Where am I?

As you might know, my son is a competitive figure skater. I'm sure that you also noticed that the economy went South a little while ago. While economic recovery is slow and sure, it was time to return to my former (and also beloved) occupation of Personal Trainer where I could earn a more steady income to help support his dreams. All of the sales from my Etsy shop go to his competition and training fees.

I still create, though the listings are fewer and farther between. You can see my work on www.scrapaloha.etsy.com. Please RSS my shop to get new listings when they appear or contact me and I'll send you an announcement.

I have combined my websites, you can still reach me at www.scrapaloha.com as well as www.innercoreedge.com.

Thank you for you continued support throughout the years. I hope that you will stay with me through this transition.

Take care and have a wonderful week!

Win a Cardmaking Video

It's been a while!  K just finished 2 weeks Spring Break, so I've been enjoying spending time with him.  Before that he finished 4 performances of "HMS Pinafore" which took a lot of time as well.

I have been scrapping a little, in fact, I had fun reviewing the DVD "Cardmaking: Greetings, Invite and Announcements" from On Air Video.  You can read the full review and see projects inspired by this video here.

In a nutshell, I think this video is wonderful for beginners, but even advanced cardmakers might find something new here.  The reason for this entry?  On Air Video is sponsoring a contest on ScrapFriends.  Five lucky people have a chance to win this video!!! How cool is that!  You can find the contest information at this link.  I hope you'll give it a try, I think you'll really like it!

Take care and check back for more fun projects...until then...

Fiskars Website Project: Altered Camera Case

Aloha mai!
Hey I wanted to share with you a project I created for the Fiskars Crafts Website.  I am so honored to have had this chance to create and share an Altered Camera Case and Mini Album Set.  A huge Mahalo (thanks) to Fiskateer Legend May and Fiskars for this opportunity.  You'll see that I've included instructions so you can create your own album set, how cool is that?!

This month I had the pleasure of reviewing a new scrapbook "tool" for jump starting your Scrapping Mojo, the Scrapbooker's Creativity Kit by Claudine Hellmuth.  I ended up finding that it really did stretch my creativity in ways I didn't expect, as you can see from the two wall hanging quotes I created.  You can find the full review here along with tons of different projects inspired by it.

Did you know that I ask a question of the day each and every day at Scrapfriends?  The questions are created to help you generate topics to scrap about and we also learn a lot about each other and ourselves in the process.  Check it out, I'd love to learn more about you!

Take care and have a wonderful week, thanks for celebrating with me!

March Sketches

Aloha mai,
Thanks for visiting!

The other day my 12 year old son decided that he wanted to help create a sketch for my bi-monthly sketch posting on Scrapfriends.  I think he did an awesome job don't you?  You can guess what type of electronic equipment he's into (cameras)  He's been saving up for a DSLR, and had to include this in his sketch LOL.  He did this sketch by himself, no help from me.

And below is sketch I created for the second March Sketch.  Remember that you can take what you like from the sketch and leave the rest.  Or build on the framework of the sketch,  Make it your own!    I hope you enjoy it.  (the layout above was created from this sketch for my ScrapFriends Product review of Claudine Hellmuth's "The Scrapbookers Creativity Kit." ) I'll post more projects later.

A hui hou,

Kodomo Japanese Style

Here's my latest ScrapFriends review.  I was lucky enough to play with some Japanese style products from Kodomo Inc.  I made a vase from this really cool thin wood sheet called Edo Ori Bako.  I also had the perfect opportunity to use some of the Mizuhiki cord I purchased a while back.

Take a look at the other projects that people made, they are amazing! Here's the link to the review.

We just finished Midwinter break over here.  I studied for the first time in a week.  Hey, and my living room is clean thanks to company we had on Saturday.  Now the challenge is to keep it clean...

more later.  Until then...

How to Beat the Winter Blues...Simply Spring

Well, there comes a time (all season long for me) when we all want some relief from the cold dark winter.  Here are some projects I created with Tinkering Ink's Simply Spring stamp set.  I wrote a review on them, you can find it here.  I learned a lot about clear stamp materials and why some stamps are so cheap (Studio G) and some so expensive.  It might be interesting to you.  It was educational for me.

I have re-discovered my Sakura Glaze Pens.  I love the way the ink flows so nicely.  I used these to color in the flowers and flourishes on my layout above and the card below.  Can you guess what my favorite stamp was?!  LOL. I just love those crows.  I used some Black Stickles on the crows in the card below to make the crows stand out.

This last piece is an album made from a Love Elsie house album.  I created a header page and two photo pages for each season.  I used some of my hoarded Club Scrap paper for this one.  I love that paper so much, but it doesn't do me any good to be sitting in my accordian file.  And I also used some of my scraps from the Ice Skater Albums (love that Prima paper!).

Happy Scrapping!
