My Friend Card Challenge

Aloha Mai,
Another busy day.  I am scrapping like crazy today and tomorrow.  Life certainly is good!
I have one card to share with you.  I made it for the Cardvaarks card challenge.  I hope you enjoy it.  Lately I have been doing a lot of embroidery on my LOs.  You can see that I did this on the stem of the flower here.
The flower petals are made from Inque Boutique stamps with acrylic paint.
I will write more this weekend.

Ramblin' Thoughts

Aloha Mai,
I just wanted to say "howzit" and send my good wishes to you.  I've been having a really good week and hope that everyone else it too!   As you might know I'm playing the Survivor game over at Making Memories For You.  We are in the last day of Challenge #5 and the competition is fierce.  Let me tell you, there are some really talented ladies playing this game.

Speaking of talent, I see it all around me every day, on every scrapbooking site I visit.  I love it that people are expressing themselves on paper, with words, with pictures, cutting and pasting.  I read a comment on a board today where the woman said that thought that she would not post her LO because she felt that it didn't match up to what was in the gallery.  This made me feel so sad.  I think we all feel that way at times, but if we continue to compare ourselves to others, we will never really be able to express who we are inside.  What you think is junk might touch someone in a special way.

Sometimes we all get caught up in the world of gorgeous layouts judged by someone else's standards.  It's especially easy to do this when we are trying out for design teams and joining contests.   I go in stages of feeling good and not feeling good about my art. When I feel down, I really try to remember that my work is me.  I am who I am and I do what I do.  I need to be true to that, and love who I am, and what I do no matter if it looks gorgeous to others or not.

My wish for you tonite is that you can find the beauty in your work today!
Thanks for listening!

Tinkering Ink

Aloha Mai,
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  I wanted to share a LO that I created for the Chat with Tinkering Ink Owner and Designer Kezia over at Scrapfriends this past thursday.  The next chat will be on March 14...I wonder who it will be with this time...
This is a head shot of me...yup, my hair was pretty short then.  It was what they used in the Club to show all the instructors.  I used to teach aerobics and I was also a personal trainer. I found this picture while I was searching through my piles of unscraped photos {gasp} to find something to scrap.  I figured I looked so much better then, I better get that one in a book as proof that I was once young LOL.
Technique: For each flower, I used three punchies.  I curled and inked the edges, then placed one on the page, staggered the other right on top of it, then added the third (also staggered to find the best design) on a pop dot and on top of the first two.  I added a snowflake punchie for the stamen and a rhinestone in the middle.
Thanks for letting me share!

Survivor MMFY Style

Aloha mai,
Just wanted to let you know that there is an awesome site Making Memories For You that I just discovered a week or so ago.  Lots of wonderful ladies with challenges and fun.  Frankie, the owner is wonderful, you can tell she puts her heart into the whole site!  MMFY has an ezine and some really creative challenges and also a DT search on right now.  Stop by and check out the current Survior game.  It's really brutal!  (not really, everyone is very nice and civilized so far LOL)  But check out the challenges, you might want to do them for yourself!  I guarantee you'll learn a lot about yourself and have some great pages and items when you are done!

It's late, so I am going to keep this short.  Take care and
A hui hou!

Don't forget the Chat with Tinkering Ink tonite at 7pm PST at Scrapfriends!  See you there!
Take care and have a wonderful day!!

The end--a beginning...

Aloha Mai,
Day after Valentines and I have a sick one at home.  I think the sugar did him in.  He's been fighting it for a while now.  But nope, he is sure it's just because someone told him the flu is going around.  LOL. "Yes dear, you're right, sugar could never lower your immune system and has nothing whatsoever to do with it, so keep eating lots and lots of it"  LOL
Anyway, I just finished this LO today.  It was a challenge on Scrapfriends where we were to journal our inner most thoughts.  I have been wanting to scrap this awesome picture for a really long time (about 5 years LOL) and lately with DS reaching the soon to be middle school age, I've been thinking a lot about him and also my changing role as a mom.  This was a great motivator for me to get it done!
Supplies: BG pp, Art Warehouse stamps, Rhinestones, Antique Buttons, Coats and Clark Trim, Sakura pen, Stickles.
Hope you have a wonderful day!

Lucky Duck!

Aloha Mai!
Happy Valentine's Day!  I made the traditional huge cookies for DS and DH.  LOL.  I was wondering why the cookies looked a little grainy.  I only put one stick of butter rather than the one cup the recipe called for.  LOL.  I had two sticks, I just spaced.  Well, I saved them lots of calories!

I made a second card for the Cardvaarks "Welcome Baby" Challenge.  The first one I forgot to stamp on though I don't think it was required.  Anyway, I had my mind set to make another card and here it is.  I used flocking to make the little duck all soft and fuzzy.  His wing folds down to reveal a mini card.  I call it Lucky Duck because all of the wonderful things are checked on this Baby's list!

I hope you have a wonderful evening.  Thanks for visiting!

A Card and A LO

Aloha Mai,
I had a wonderful weekend, but I'll have to talk about that later, because the photos aren't uploaded yet and you just HAVE to see the pictures!!

For now, I wanted to show you a card that I created for a challenge at Cardvaarks.  I used items from the March kit at Secret Scrapper, with a few of my own additions.

I created in response to a challenge on the Rusty Pickle blog.   I used Rusty Pickle paper, chipboard and stamps to capture my favorite memory of being at the Puyallup Fair with my DS. The hearts in the upper right form a pocket for 4 journaling tags that read:

"Every year for my birthday, you and I go to the fair.  "Doing the Puyallup" with you is a special time for me.  I will always cherish our time together.  I am so blessed with you!"

"We love the modern living or "gadgets" as we call them.  It's so wonderul to share time with you, doing things we both love.  I love looking at the trains and the lego exhibits with you too.  Thank you for keeping me company."

" I love how you LOVE to eat.  You  can eat anything and everything!  What a wonderful eater you are.  I especially love all the food you get all over yourself.  So unselfconscious.

"As you grow up I miss the special times we had together.  I miss your unquestioning love, innocence, delight and spontaneity.  But there are new gifts and I cherish those too.  I am grateful for my memories and hopeful of the future."

Thank you for looking.  I will get those pictures of this weekend up ASAP!

Love Cards are in the Air

Aloha Mai,
Here are some valentine's day cards that I created.  More are available in my Etsy shop

For the card above, I used Queen Kat Stamps in response to the Caardvard's valentine challenge.

Below is a card set that I will be listing in my Etsy shop tomorrow.  It makes a great gift.  I used Inque Boutique stamps and watercolors for the image and acrylic paint for the hearts.  The cards come in a folder with a fiber tie and tag for easy gift giving.

Tomorrow I'd like to share some really exciting personal scrapping news with you.

Love Cards!!!

Aloha Mai,
Remember those store bought valentines that you got when you were a kid?  Here is my version of them for a challenge on the last round of the Queen Kat Blog Challenge.  I used some of the left overs of the Daisy D's paper that I received for a Scrapfriends review that is coming up soon.  Here is the back of the cards, just like the old days!

Day two: Challenge was to create a card using information from a historical even on that same date.  I chose March 9th (my cousin and my DH's BD) which I found out happens to be the day that Barbie was introduced at a toy fair in NY in 1959, and also the day that the first Ford Mustang was unveiled in 1964.

The third challenge was to use a shrinky dink on a card.  My shrinky dink happens to be a stamped image from Inque Boutique.

I had a lot of fun with these.  If you are interested in any of them, please check my Etsy shop for a variety of handmade cards!

a hui hou!  Thanks for visiting!
